Overview:

The project engineer position serves in multiple roles in the Indianapolis Systems Group as a career development program. This position will rotate to work in all areas of the Systems' Group to include design engineering, site supervision, project management, customer support, and sales consulting. The individual will rotate through each position based on our current workload and under the supervision of an experienced employee for a period of two years. Progress in a particular role will be evaluated quarterly to determine if more/less time is needed in one particular position. Upon successful completion of the development roles, the individual will determine which direction he/she prefers. The ultimate goal of the development program is to develop strong, experienced employees in the systems team in the areas of project management, consulting, and design engineering.

Required Background:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (or related degree).
  • MBA or Master Degree in Engineering a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Strategic Selling Ability
  • Excellent technical problem solving capability (hardware, controls)
  • Strong scheduling and organizational skills.
  • Strong understanding of financials, budgets, cash flow
  • Enjoys the Supply Chain Automation, Logistics Software business environment.
  • Willing to travel 30-40% (travel will vary depending on specific Projects. Time spent with site supervisors will have longer travel requirements while time spent with Design Engineers and Sales Consulting will have significantly less travel).
  • Enjoy working in team environment
  • Experience with AutoCAD and AutoMod or similar software

General Duties:

  • Spend several months each as Design Engineer, Sales Consultant, Site Supervisor, and Project Manager shadowing experienced Systems' employees. Learn the roles of each job to strengthen your role in the systems team.
  • As design engineer, assist with AutoCAD drawings, quotes, spare parts orders, and other general design responsibilities.
  • Improve project execution processes (Gantts, continuous improvement)
  • Consistently communicates with the Operations Manager both good news and bad news. Completes task list items in a timely manner.
  • Timely resolution of issues and customer satisfaction with Support.
  • As site supervisor, assist with site installation to include material inventory, schedule tracking, and supervising subcontractors.
  • Upon successful completion of training pipeline, work directly with Project Managers as an assistant on large, complex projects.
  • Develop in depth understanding of all facets of material handling to include equipment, suppliers, and applications.
  • Timely completion of all reports and logs to include time reports and travel expenses
  • Provide Customer support for ongoing and warranty projects
  • Support Trade Shows
  • Review and maintain your office schedule (Outlook).
  • Maintain consistent positive and enthusiastic attitude
  • Timely communication of all concerns and issues with the Operations Manager
  • Pursue professional training and certifications (PMP)
