MultiShuttle™ ASRS Technology
Dematic's Multishuttle ™ Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) can dramatically increases speed, accuracy and throughput when handling cases, totes and trays. Its inherent flexibility enables it to be easily adapted to any shape or size building, including existing buildings with lower ceilings. The Multishuttle™ ASRS is extremely scaleable especially for companies experiencing rapid growth and change in product demand profiles.
How Multishuttle™ ASRS Technology Works
The key to Multishuttle ™ technology is that the shuttles can store and retrieve orders in parallel. In traditional automated storage and retrieval systems these processes work off a crane mast moving up and down the aisle and a load handling device moving up and down the mast. Individual orders must be stored and retrieve one after the other. With the Multishuttle ™ two orders can be picked or put simultaneously.
MultiShuttle™ Technology Formats
- Multishuttle™ Captive has shuttles located at every level in all aisles, serviced by high-speed lifts which allow for high throughput applications such as order picking and order consolidation buffers
- Multishuttle™ Roaming has shuttles which are not dedicated to one storage level but can move between different levels via shuttle lifts allowing for applications where low to medium throughput are required
Problems Solved By The Multishuttle™ ASRS Technology
- Feeding automated or manual palletizing operations
- Multishuttle ™ is able to sequence picks in order to build a pallets
- Existing buildings with low clearance
- Multishuttle ™ typically operates in less then 35' (10m) of clearance
- Multishuttle ™ is also configurable for oddly shaped buildings
- High rate applications with low storage capacity
- Inventory spoilage / damage
- Lack of FIFO control
Multishuttle ™ Features & Benefits
- Very High performance and sequencing
- High space efficiency through flexible rack configurations
- Scalable throughput and storage
- Cost-effective for low throughput applications (Roaming)
- High resilience through redundancy and system design
- All rack locations easily accessible by maintenance personnel
- Lower floor loadings
