Westfalia Satellite Deep Aisle Mini Load ASRS

Westfalia offers four Mini Load AS/RS designs which we can customize to maximize storage and fulfill your specific needs, be it for work-in-process, storage of parts, cases, cartons, totes, books, etc. Traditional designs offer single-deep or double-deep tote/carton/tray storage in a condensed, automated system.

How Westfalia Satellite Deep Aisle Mini Load ASRS Technology Works

Using Westfalia’s High Density AS/RS Satellite® load carrying device, totes/trays are quickly and smoothly transported into and out of the storage racks onto the Storage Retrieval Machine (SRM). The SRM picks up loads from infeed conveyors, places them in storage, retrieves the totes/trays when needed for order fulfillment, and places them on outfeed conveyors to pick areas or truck staging.

Westfalia Mini Load ASRS Technology Formats

4 types of Mini Load AS/RS:

Mini-Load with Turning Satellite®

Ideal for reaching both sides of an AS/RS aisle to store containers in single, double and multiple-deep configurations – it handles up to four boxes or cartons at a time, with a maximum load capacity of 176 lbs. (80 kg.) Our flexible designs enable any combination of single, double or multiple-deep (up to 12 deep) Mini-Load systems to be serviced from one aisle.

Mini-Load without Turning Satellite®

Useful when only one side of an aisle is used for AS/RS to store containers in single, double and multiple-deep configurations - designed to handle loads up to 176lbs. (80 kg.) It too has our flexible design capabilities, enabling any combination of single, double or multiple-deep (up to 12 deep) storage services from one aisle.

Mini-Load with Pin Extractor

Our tray handling system which can handle several small boxes, parts, etc. in one tray in a single-deep configuration - has the advantage of handling trays with a maximum load capacity of 660 lbs (300 kg.) The tray dimensions can vary, as your needs require. This robust Mini-Load AS/RS can handle several boxes, parts, etc in one tray, providing very condensed storage.

Mini-Load with Telescopic Shuttle Table

Ideal for storage of lighter loads in single and double-deep configurations - capable of handling standard load weights of 110-176 lbs. (50-80 kg.)

Density Configurations

Westfalia offers traditional single and double deep storage for totes/cartons/trays, or a combination of both within the same aisle. Our unique High Density Multiple Deep Mini-Load AS/RS store up to 12 cartons/totes/boxes in a storage lane. High density AS/RS are most useful when handling a smaller number of SKUs and can also be combined with single or double deep AS/RS in the same aisle.

Each client’s system is developed based on their specific inventory specifics, including product data, load weights, load sizes, throughput rates, storage capacity, and order picking requirements. Westfalia’s Satellite® technology enables flexibility in system configurations. With deep lane configurations (totes/trays 1 to 12 deep in a lane), one aisle/one SRM has access to an almost unlimited number of pallets or loads.

For 2 aisle systems, the combination of Westfalia’s Satellite® technology and Savanna.NET® WMS offers even more flexibility as the lane depths in the middle block (between the 2 aisles) can be changed as inventory needs requires.

Westfalia Satellite Deep Aisle Mini Load ASRS Specifications

  • Flexible designs for your best space maximizing AS/RS – shorter Satellite® rack entry vehicle often permits extra levels too
  • Pick tunnel within the rack structure, and reserve storage above
  • All Dual-Mast designs – durable, stable design which has the added benefit of reducing wear on the crane
  • Load capacities ranging from 176 lbs (80 kg) to 660 lbs (300 kg)
  • Standard maximum height 33 ft. (10 m)
  • Additional height and speed options are available

Westfalia Mini Load ASRS Technology Benefits

  • Maximizing storage capacity in ambient, cooler & frozen environments for existing conventional warehouses as well as new high rise warehouses
  • Utilizing our mini Satellite® rack entry vehicle, Westfalia designs are tighter and shorter, requiring less vertical space between racks than most other companies. This lower height requirement often permits 2 or more additional levels in the client’s Mini-Load AS/RS, allowing even greater storage capacity
  • Maximize your AS/RS uptime by placing 2 Storage/Retrieval Machines (S/RMs) in one aisle thereby providing full redundancy when maintenance is needed
  • Reduction in labor costs – fewer workers, safer for employees by keeping them out of the racks
  • By closing gaps in the flow of products, clients achieve better operating results and meet just-in-time requirements. These increases in efficiency and productivity translate into decreased operating costs – a real boost to your bottom line
  • Reduction in operating costs via energy savings, reduction in product damage, etc.
  • Increased order accuracy and customer service

Westfalia Mini Load ASRS Applications

Westfalia’s high density AS/RS can be used in virtually any environment. They are built to last with proven reliability in freezer, cooler and ambient environments of 20 years+.

Westfalia Mini Load ASRS Features

Westfalia’s standard heavy-duty double mast SRM assures long life and minimum wear to the SMR/crane rail and crane components. Satellite® rack entry vehicle uses counter rotation principle to move loads in and out of the rack over wheels, resulting in no cantilevered load moments. Dual drives on both the horizontal & vertical axis of the SRM reduce motor size requirements, creating a maintenance friendly machine. Optional redundant drives, load shift plates, soft start & stop, as well as fine positioning technology accurate to within 1 mm, and ensure quality and reliability. All SRMs are thoroughly tested on our test track before shipping to you, guaranteeing the highest quality standard.
