Exacta Pick to Light
Trying to increase productivity, improve picking accuracy and keep your labor costs down? Pick to light is a light-directed picking technology that provides an accurate and efficient method of paperless picking, putting or sorting and assembling products.
Bastian’s pick to light system provides you with an efficient picking application that increases productivity and gives your warehouse the boost it needs. The Exacta pick to light picking system can be used on a stand-alone basis as an order fulfillment solution or be integrated directly into the Exacta warehouse management system, your existing WMS or other existing host systems.
Pick to Light Operations
In a pick to light system, an operator scans the order number or barcode associated with the order number on a shipping carton or tote, and the pick to light devicess illuminate, indicating locations where items need to be picked. Each pick light displays a quantity of the item to be picked. The pick to light solution can be configured to display a picking unit of measure as well as the quantity to pick. Operators may also have the ability to indicate short picks using the pick to light devices. Using pick to light, operators keep their hands free, do not need to wear or carry any devices and can quickly identify the next pick required at a glance. The warehouse management system or host system is updated in real time as pickers press the illuminated button to task complete picks in the pick to light system.
Benefits of Pick to Light
- Paperless, hands-free, easy operation. Pickers simply look for pick light devices that are illuminated. Operators no longer need to carry around paper pick lists and can use both hands to handle pick items.
- Simple to learn and use. Minimal training time is required. Operators prefer using pick to light compared to paper pick lists because it's easier to complete picks using lights. Instead of reading a location, item and quantity from paper, an operator can simply look for a light and read the number. Additionally, pick to light offers speed—operators can complete picks faster and with more accuracy.
- Accuracy. Pick to light systems improve accuracy by nearly 99% compared to paper-based picking, reducing errors in picking and increasing order accuracy. Better order accuracy leads to better customer service.
- Productivity. Increase efficiency and picking rates (up to 450 lines per person hour). Individual operator productivity can be increased up to 4 or 5 times over traditional, paper-based picking solutions.
- Reduce operating expenses. Fewer labor hours required to pick the same order volume using lights.
- Easy to install. Easily mounts to virtually any type of shelving or rack. Works well whether you have 50, 500 or 5,000 lights in the system.
