I had the privilege last week, along with my friend and colleague Mark Gaskill, to speak at the Annual Warehouse Education Research Council Conference in Anaheim California. Our topic was “Breakthrough Material Handling Technologies”. This is the 3rd year that I have put together this presentation, highlighting new technologies and exciting uses for existing technologies. With Mark’s help, this was – in my humble opinion – our best presentation of the latest and greatest distribution technologies available on the market. ASAP Automation (BMH’s sister company) recently installed these amazing “Pacing Screens” at Japanese Food Corporation in California. These nifty pacing screens provide instant, real-time feedback directly to each picking operator on whether they are ahead, behind, or “on pace” while picking.

Citi Trends Fashion for Less distribution center utilized a very manual flow through process with little on-site storage other than work-in-progress. This caused accuracy and productivity to be less than desired. BMH partnered with Citi Trends to implement a new system that increased efficiency and improved ergonomics.

Central Power Systems (CPS) asked BMH to help plan their move to a new, larger distribution center in Columbus, Ohio and design a system that would allow for future growth.
