System Summary
Aeroquip Corporation, a major manufacturer of hose and fittings, recently consolidated thirteen U.S. distribution centers down to only two. To accommodate the increased order volume, a new highly automated facility was built in Van Wert, Ohio. This facility serves as a "real time" buffer on the back-end of their manufacturing process. the buffer is used for: finished goods order picking, general assembly of new S.K.U.'s and the release of fitting of components to the hose assembly area. The material handling system helped Aeroquip better serve their 2500 OEM's and 850 Distributors by slashing order fulfillment cycle time by 40%.
