Stage 5: System Concepting
It is during this important stage that conventional and/or automated system solutions
are developed and evaluated.
- Execute Configuration Analysis – Bastian will utilize the various activity profiles in determining how to structure manufacturing operations. In addition, Bastian will develop the most appropriate product retrieval and delivery configuration based on product velocity and inventory needs.
- Prepare Conceptual Drawings – Bastian will accomplish the preparation by benchmarking the results of the configuration analysis to industry best and to a conceptual ideal, a full range of automated, semi-automated, mechanized, manual-assisted and manual operations is drafted.
- Document Alternative Concepts – Bastian will prepare a comparison matrix and briefing package to communicate all viable alternatives and their function. Establish preliminary qualitative evaluation criteria.
- Review Alternative Concepts – Bastian will present first round results of configuration analysis to project team. Alternatives are reviewed in terms of projected equipment, systems, facility alterations, and staffing levels. If necessary, Bastian will discuss and adjust weights for qualitative evaluation criteria.
