Industrial Controls

Automated Storage & Retrieval System (ASRS)
Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS) are generally appropriate in applications where high volumes of inventory are moved into and out of a Manufacturing or Distribution operation, making more conventional forms of handling and storage less responsive and inefficient.
Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV)
An automated guided vehicle system (AGV) is used to consistently and predictably transport product that would otherwise be handled by fork trucks, carts, or even conveyors. Similar to ASRS's, AGV's are most often employed where high density / high volumes of repetitive movement of materials are required. Often, the driver behind the use of AGV's is to eliminate the cost and variance of the human operator in a process that adds no value to the end product, essentially movement between value added processes. Over the course of time, AGV's can provide a cost effective method to the put-away process as materials enter a facility and need to be stored quickly.
