Cleveland Clinic Successfully Transitions from Manual Processes to a Fully Automated System


Cleveland Clinic (CCF) is a non-profit academic medical center that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education. It is one of the largest private medical centers in the world. Patients arrive at the Cleveland Clinic from all 50 states and more than 80 nations. The Cleveland Clinic’s approximately 1,800 salaried staff physicians represent 120 medical specialties and subspecialties. Key technologies implemented included: 3-D rendered Human Machine Interface Steeplechase PC-Based Controls and Beckhoff I/O ASAP Automation’s Exacta WMS to interface with the existing Lawson ERP ASAP’s PictureView Pick-To-Display for full and split case picks 181 Frog AGV’s for delivery to nurse’s stations Appolis Delivery Signature Tracking Software Remstar Horizontal and Vertical Carousels Cleveland Clinic was able to successfully transition from manual processes to a fully automated system. Adding the ASAP Exacta Warehouse Management Software provided Cleveland Clinic with inventory control, traceability and improved order accuracy. The system exceeded Cleveland Clinic’s system rate goal, performing at average 400 orders/4,000 lines per day. The nurses throughout the hospitals on campus receive the right medical products at the right time.
